My starting point...

My name is Mithun Tangutoori.  I grew up listening to singers and composers such as S.P Balasubramaniam, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, A.R. Rahman, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and my all-time favorite and most influential of all – my dad – Madanmohan Tangutoori.  With such great mentorship and guidance by my side, I started my professional musical journey during my early teenage years in Chicago, Illinois as the lead singer of a band named BollyRhythm, which was formed by one of my close friends – Prashant Shah (DJ Prashant), his father and I. We expanded our band as we collaborated with amazing talents in and around Chicagoland area. I've later formed another band in the Central Illinois region with some awesome musicians in that region to put together large scale stage performances.

Some Key performances and recognitions...

I've perform across and outside the country for various events.  Some notable concerts performed are: Ramzat Garbas in Chicago and across the country, Fundraisers for Ekal Vidyalaya, Fundraisers for Easter Seals and performances with Bollywood actors such Karisma Kapoor, Chunkey Pandey as well as musicians from Bollywood & Tollywood.  I was also one of the first singers from U.S. to be selected for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa World Challenge in 2004/2005.

Expanding the skillset...

With no formal training on singing or any instruments, while performing several concerts, I've picked up other instruments such as Keyboards, Drums, Dholak and Congas.  During this time, I have also learned extensively about Sound Engineering from some of the best technicians around the country and from abroad to expand my skillset.

How about that DJ'ng...

While my DJ venture had started during my early teenage years, I became more prominent in mixing/DJ’ing from 2009 onwards.  I have traveled to multiple cities across the US and even outside of the country to DJ at various events.  I have performed at night clubs, bars and other large scale venues mixing Bollywood, Hip-Hop, Top 40 hits and more.

What's new with me...

I am currently learning music production to recreate some classics and also composing my own music.

My starting point..

My name is Madanmohan Tangutoori.  Growing up, I was always fond of music and singing.  Once my family, friends and musicians acknowledged and appreciated my singing, that's when I realized my actual talent, essentially developing an immense passion for music.  The era that I'm most fond of and associated with was filled with amazing talents such as Mohd. Rafi, Ghantasala Venkateshwar Rao, Mukesh Da, Kishore Da and many others.  This is the 'Golden Era' as known across all of the Indian Music Industry, irrespective of the language.  My biggest influences in music, whom I've idolized growing up while emulating them as closely as I could, are Mohd. Rafi Saheb & Sri Ghantasala V.  The passion, depth, feel and ease of delivery for each song is what attracted me to those legendary singers.

Some Key performances and recognitions...

I started performing in front of audiences from a very young age, dating back to my school days.  I took part in many competitions and had won several prizes and was recognized by popular musicians, clubs and also film personnel.  I performed in well-known venues such as Ravindra Bharathi Hall, Fatehmaidan Stadium with famous orchestra groups such as 'Film Talents Guild' & 'White Piece'.

After moving to the U.S. in early 90s, I've actively performed Telugu & Hindi songs with my team of musicians across the country and for NPO's such as TAGC, ATA and TANA. In 1992, I have gotten an opportunity to sing in a felicitation to Dr. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, my favorite actor growing up, on he recieving the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Many other prominent Tollywood film industry personnel were in attendances such as CSR, Raja Sulochana, Murali Mohan, Dasari Narayana Rao and many others. I was recognised and appreciated by all of them in particular Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, who said "I reminded him of his yester years of his acting and sounded like Ghantasala Garu".  This to me was the ultimate compliment and motivation to continue to keep up with my passion for music.

What's new with me...

Finally, my desire is to keep my passion alive and keep my audience entertained always with my renditions of classic songs in Hindi and Telugu. Now in a new stage, I am partnering and collaborating with my son, Mithun Tangutoori, to bring some new elements to the music and entertainment we are providing to our fan base.
